Korea mostly an independent country till 1905. From 1905 occupied by Japanese. Korea regained its independence after World War II, a democratic-based government Republic of Korea (ROK) was set up in the southern half of the Korean Peninsula while a communist- government was installed in the north , Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

From luxury hotel resorts to affordable guesthouses, from $AUD20 - 100 it should satisfy most people and you can pay far more for luxury hotels. Finding a place to stay it shouldn't be a problem – Korea has an incredible number of places to stay.
Food
Korean food; mostly traditional Korean food like Kimchi (fermented vegetables), Bibimbap (mixed rice with various vegetables), Samgye-tang (chicken soup with ginseng dates garlic chestnuts and herbs, Jeon (Korean pencake), Bulgogi (marinated beef barbecue), Japchae (stir-fried noodles), Ddukbokki (spicy rice cake), Seolleongtang (ox bone soup), Sundubu-jjigae (soft tofu stew), Samgyeopsal (pork strips), Makgeolli (traditional Korean alcohol from rice) and many more you just have to go and try it for yourself.

Getting to Korea from Perth will cost you on average $1200 you can get ticket for less than $1000 depends on airlines and time of the year you travel it should cost more than $1500. Personally i recommend May and June. What to do when you get there? it's a lot to see and explore reach history and culture great shopping for electronics or traditional handicrafts. I only mention; Time square and Seoul folk flea market but you can find hundreds places to shop.
